Yeezy Boost 350 v2: Review

Yeezy Boost 350 v2

Like everyone else, I’ve taken A LOT of L’s on Yeezy releases. From early rises at the weekend to get 6 devices loaded up and queuing, to entering so many raffles and Instagram contests that I’ve lost track of what closes and when. I’ve had absolutely zero success, until last weekend that is!

I’ve had Oxford Tan in my cart and Pirate Black 99% through checkout but the websites always crashed before I could pay. I couldn’t bring myself to pay the astronomical resell prices and, with the resell game in the UK so much smaller than that across the Atlantic, it always seemed a massive gamble to secure deadstock authentics.

This time, I got lucky – securing the v2 Beluga direct from Adidas. It took around 45 minutes of sitting in the queue and accepting an 8.5 instead of my usual size 9 but I got them AND I paid retail.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the v2’s when I first saw Kanye wearing them around 12 months ago. However photographs really don’t do these sneakers justice because, in person, they are AMAZING.

From the orange speckle throughout the upper, to the exaggerated mid-sole and the all-important BOOST technology (the biggest game changer ever to hit the sneaker game if you ask me!), the v2’s are ETREMELY eye-catching and EXTREMELY comfortable.

They definitely sit a notch below the Adidas UltraBOOST on the comfort-scale but that’s still on another ladder from almost every other sneaker out there just now.

The primeknit feels tougher than on previous releases and the rubber outsoles look less likely to crack (a big problem on the original 350’s); both good signs if you intend on wearing your Yeezy’s. Overall, these look to have significantly more staying power than their predecessors.

By now, you’ll have heard a the recommendation that you size up on the v2’s. I grabbed an 8.5 which is a little smaller than my usual size (but one I often go for in Adidas sneakers – I find them a slightly bigger than Nike etc.) and they fit fine. A little snug around the toe but I like the tightness as it allows me to leave the laces loose for that full Kanye-aesthetic.

The next Yeezy release is the light brown 750 coming on October 15th – I’ll be back in the queue with a few laptops on the go and I’m sure I’ll see you there!

Did you get lucky with the latest Yeezy release? What is your favourite colour way of the upcoming v2’s??
